COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University provides a comprehensive program designed to develop both practical skills and critical understanding of contemporary art. In the first year, students focus on introductions to the art school environment, engaging in intensive practical work while exploring the relationship between art and the city, allowing them to establish a strong foundation in making and conceptual thinking. The second year builds on this foundation by expanding practice and developing critical thinking, combining studio work with professional experience to prepare students for the demands of the creative industries. Optional opportunities such as a study semester abroad allow students to gain international perspectives and broaden their understanding of contemporary artistic practices. In the final year, the focus is on professional practice, encouraging students to consolidate their skills, refine their individual artistic voice, and prepare for exhibition and career opportunities.
