COURSE CURRICULUM

The quantity surveying course is structured to provide a solid grounding in construction technology, economics, law, and project management while building the technical and professional skills needed for a career in the built environment sector. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of construction technology and design, measurement and costing, building science, and the sustainable environment, along with construction economics, laying the foundation for understanding both technical and financial aspects of construction. The second year develops this knowledge further with more advanced construction technology and design, while also focusing on project planning, ethics, and safety control. Core modules such as construction law and procurement and contract administration introduce the legal frameworks and administrative processes that underpin the profession. In the final year, students focus on applying their learning through collaborative and interprofessional practice, a comprehensive quantity surveying project, and an independent research project that allows them to explore an area of personal interest in depth. The course balances theory with practical application, ensuring graduates are equipped with the critical, analytical, and management skills required for professional practice, preparing them to contribute effectively to construction projects and pursue global opportunities in the built environment.
