COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum spans three years, combining classroom-based learning, simulations, and clinical placements. Year 1 introduces foundational nursing skills, anatomy, physiology, and psychology related to learning disabilities. Modules include Introduction to Learning Disabilities Nursing, Health and Wellbeing, and Professional Development. Year 2 builds on this with advanced topics like Complex Care Needs, Pharmacology, and Research Methods. Students undertake placements in community and acute settings. Year 3 focuses on leadership, management, and specialized care, including modules on Transition to Professional Practice, Evidence-Based Practice, and a dissertation. Throughout, there's emphasis on NMC standards, ethical practice, and interprofessional education. Assessments include essays, exams, presentations, and placement evaluations. The program ensures 50% theory and 50% practice, totaling 4,600 hours as per NMC requirements.
