COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Project Management degree is designed to build knowledge and skills progressively, preparing students to manage complex projects in the built environment. In the first year, students study core modules such as Construction Technology and Design 1, Building Science and the Sustainable Environment, Project Environment and Management Techniques, and Construction Economics. These modules introduce the fundamentals of construction methods, environmental sustainability, project management practices and the economic principles influencing the industry. In the second year, learning moves into more specialised areas with Construction Technology and Design 2, Project Planning Ethics and Safety Control, Construction Law, and Procurement and Contract Administration. Here, students gain expertise in managing project planning processes, understanding health and safety responsibilities, navigating legal frameworks, and handling procurement and contracts effectively. The final year focuses on advanced professional and managerial skills, with modules including Collaborative and Interprofessional Practice, which develops teamwork across disciplines, and Management of People, Projects and Organisation, which enhances leadership and organisational capabilities. The program concludes with a Research Project, enabling students to investigate an area of personal or professional interest in depth. Together, these modules ensure graduates leave with the technical, managerial and analytical skills needed for successful careers in construction project management.
