COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applications and Games Development degree is structured to build strong computing foundations before advancing into specialised areas of software and game creation. In the first year, students focus on essential technical skills through modules in Software Development, Tech Stack, Computing Skills and User Experience, gaining an understanding of coding, programming tools, digital systems and user-centred design. The second year progresses into more advanced concepts, with modules such as Software Engineering, Algorithms and Data Structures, Game Technologies and a Thematic Project. This stage equips students with the ability to design efficient solutions, apply engineering principles to software development, and explore the technical aspects of games while working collaboratively on real-world style projects. The final year consolidates knowledge and applies it in professional contexts, with modules including Secure Development and Deployment, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Games Development and a major independent Project. These modules enable students to develop secure software, apply AI techniques to digital applications and create sophisticated game systems. By combining programming expertise, problem-solving skills and practical project experience, the course prepares graduates for careers in the applications and games development industries, with the technical and creative abilities needed to thrive in a competitive and evolving sector.
