COURSE CURRICULUM

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of how education supports children and young people, particularly in relation to mental health, special educational needs, and inclusive practice. In the first year, students develop essential academic and professional skills while studying safeguarding, child protection, and the principles of children’s learning and development. They also gain practical insights into supporting children’s mental health and addressing special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in education. In the second year, the focus shifts to trauma-informed and responsive practices, equality, diversity, and inclusion, alongside research methods and evidence-based practice. A professional placement allows students to apply their learning in real-world settings, preparing them for future careers. The final year emphasizes leadership and intervention in education, family support, and therapeutic practices, alongside completing a research project. Students also engage in professional learning through work, strengthening their employability and sector experience. Throughout the program, there is a strong focus on tackling contemporary challenges in education, fostering inclusive environments, and developing practical strategies to support children and young people. By graduation, students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience to pursue careers in education, health, and social care, making a meaningful difference in young lives.
