COURSE CURRICULUM

This program covers a comprehensive range of modules designed to develop both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for professional practice in sports and exercise therapy. Students begin by building a strong foundation in anatomical knowledge, alongside assessment and examination skills essential for accurate clinical decision-making. Skills and practice modules focus on developing hands-on competence in sports and exercise therapy, ensuring students can apply theory effectively in real-world settings. Sports trauma management equips learners with the ability to respond confidently to acute injuries and emergencies, while sports injury management and rehabilitation modules develop expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation programs for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Research in professional practice forms a key academic component of the program, culminating in a dissertation that allows students to explore a topic relevant to sports and exercise therapy in depth and develop critical research skills. Practical experience is further enhanced through placements within sports and exercise therapy contexts, where students can apply their learning in clinical, sporting, or performance environments. For pathway 2 students who already hold a physiotherapy or sports therapy related degree, placements are optional, allowing flexibility while still supporting professional development and readiness for practice.
