COURSE CURRICULUM

This program focuses on developing advanced knowledge and applied skills in coaching and performance analysis to support athlete and participant development across sporting contexts. The module on participant and performer development explores how individuals progress in sport, considering physical, psychological, and social factors that influence long-term growth and performance.Understanding and analysing sport performance equips students with tools and frameworks to evaluate individual and team performance using data and evidence-based approaches. It complements the research process module, which introduces the design and critical analysis of research, laying the foundation for high-quality, applied investigation in sport contexts.Optimising skill acquisition and learning delves into the mechanisms of motor learning, decision making, and skill development. It supports students in designing training environments that enhance learning and transfer of skills to performance settings. The applied coaching project allows for hands-on exploration of a chosen coaching issue, enabling students to implement interventions and reflect on their impact in practice.The professional coaching practice module focuses on the broader role of the coach, including leadership, communication, and reflective practice, while also addressing the professional standards and expectations of working in sport. This comprehensive approach ensures that students graduate with the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate effective coaching strategies in diverse sporting environments.
