COURSE CURRICULUM

The Reverse Engineering & Malware Analysis module focuses on understanding fundamental software technologies and malware analysis. Students will learn to debug C and assembly code and apply reverse engineering techniques to analyze malware behavior. They will perform static and dynamic analysis on binary files to identify the behavior and design of malware. The Forensic Image & Video Processing module introduces students to digital image and video processing techniques used in forensic investigations. Students will learn how to apply various processing methods, such as image filtering, de-noising, and enhancement, to improve the quality of evidence in digital forensics. Research Practice helps students build awareness of the methods and skills required for successful master's-level research, while encouraging critical reflection on personal development within their chosen field of study. Software Security & Exploitation deepens students' understanding of software vulnerabilities and teaches them to audit code for design and implementation flaws, such as buffer overflows and injection attacks. Students will also gain hands-on experience in applying security mitigation techniques, such as fuzz-testing and static analysis, to secure software. The Project Management module equips students with the knowledge and tools to manage projects across various industries and organizations. It covers key areas of project management, including planning, execution, methodologies, standards, and legislation, allowing students to develop practical skills to manage real-world projects. Finally, the Dissertation module gives students the opportunity to engage in advanced research on a topic of particular interest. They will carry out an in-depth project and present their findings in a formal dissertation, which will be assessed through a viva and dissertation submission.
