The Computing and Software Engineering degree provides a comprehensive foundation in computer science, programming, and software development, evolving through practical and theoretical learning. Students also develop knowledge of software engineering processes, tools, and techniques. In the second year, the course deepens in complexity, focusing on professional development techniques and advanced programming through modules such as software systems development. Web-application technologies provide experience in designing and building interactive websites, including server-side programming. Systems programming extends coding skills to low-level languages and direct interaction with operating systems. Machine learning introduces students to AI and data-driven problem-solving in real-world contexts like smart cities and healthcare. Teamwork is fostered through a collaborative project in which students create and present a software solution. The third year emphasizes professionalism and real-world application. Students undertake a full project in two parts, simulating real-life software development from planning to implementation. Professional software engineering concepts are explored in-depth, such as validation, verification, requirements elicitation, and quality control. Service-oriented architecture is introduced, allowing students to develop distributed applications using remote services. In the final year, students prepare for postgraduate-level research through the research practice module. The degree concludes with a dissertation, enabling students to conduct a focused investigation into a topic of personal or professional interest in software engineering.
