COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering program provides a comprehensive education, blending theoretical knowledge with practical application to prepare students for a career in civil engineering. In the first year, students learn the fundamentals, including civil engineering management, which covers the roles and responsibilities in civil engineering contracts and the application of UK law. Advanced mathematics is introduced to help solve engineering problems, while surveying and CAD techniques are taught for creating geospatial data and technical drawings. The program also covers engineering mechanics and applied mechanics to understand structural behavior, as well as engineering materials science, which delves into the properties of construction materials like metals, concrete, and timber.In the second year, students build on this foundation by exploring more specialized topics. Civil Engineering Management B teaches commercial and contractual procedures for project delivery, including risk assessments and contract types. Geotechnical Engineering covers soil mechanics and foundation design, and the introduction to structural design focuses on sustainability in material use. Further studies in materials chemistry, structural analysis, and fluid mechanics enhance the understanding of the chemistry of materials, complex structural analysis, and fluid behavior in engineering applications. Advanced mathematics deepens students' ability to solve complex engineering problems.In the third year, students engage in an independent project, conducting in-depth research on a specific civil engineering topic. They also study structural engineering techniques, numerical management methods, and advanced fluid mechanics to tackle real-world engineering challenges. Infrastructure engineering examines the design of critical infrastructure such as bridges and water systems. In the final year, students complete an integrated project, demonstrating their ability to solve engineering problems in a simulated industrial scenario, and engage in continuing professional development. The course culminates with a research paper and advanced structural engineering studies, equipping students with the skills needed for professional practice.
