COURSE CURRICULUM

This counselling program offers a structured and progressive approach to developing personal and professional competencies essential for effective therapeutic practice. The journey begins with Personal and Professional Development 1, where students are encouraged to explore their own growth areas through reflective practice and begin forming their identity as practitioners. Alongside this, the Relational Framework module introduces foundational counselling theories and professional standards, preparing students for safe and supervised clinical work. Therapeutic Skills further builds on this by offering practical experience through peer sessions, observation, and supervision, helping students develop core communication and relational skills. The Understanding Social Research and Evaluation module equips students with essential research knowledge, focusing on methodology, ethical considerations, and data analysis, enabling them to critically assess and apply evidence-based practice. In the second year, Personal and Professional Development 2 deepens self-awareness and integrates a broader range of theories, encouraging a more refined and coherent approach to personal practice. The Becoming a Therapist module extends knowledge into more complex clinical scenarios and emphasizes collaborative work with other professionals to meet client needs. Therapeutic Process and Supervision provides regular group supervision, encouraging students to make meaningful connections between theory and real-world practice, with feedback aimed at improving therapeutic effectiveness.
