COURSE CURRICULUM

This program provides a framework for advanced study and creative exploration within the arts, combining research, critical engagement, and professional practice. The module Research in the Arts equips students with the methodologies and critical thinking skills necessary for conducting in-depth, practice-led or theoretical research. It supports the development of independent inquiry and helps students situate their work within contemporary and historical contexts.Commission introduces students to working with external partners or clients, simulating real-world professional environments. Through responding to a brief or creating work for a specific context or audience, students gain experience in project development, negotiation, and delivery.Critical Conversations fosters critical engagement with key debates, theories, and practices in contemporary art and culture. It encourages students to examine their own work and that of others within a broader social, political, and artistic framework, promoting reflective thinking and intellectual dialogue.The Major Project is the culmination of the program, allowing students to undertake a substantial piece of independent work. This could be practice-based, written, or a combination of both, depending on the student’s discipline and focus. Supervised by academic staff, the project demonstrates the student’s creative vision, research capability, and critical understanding.Together, these modules support the development of a professional, critically informed arts practice and prepare students for careers in the creative industries, academia, or independent artistic work.
