This program offers an in-depth exploration of sound production, music technology, and audio-visual practices, blending creative development with technical skill-building. The Location Sound module provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical techniques for capturing and mixing sound for film, television, and radio, with a strong focus on industry-standard methods.Studio Production Skills introduces the creative possibilities of the studio environment, encouraging students to produce a musical product while developing their technical competence and artistic expression.Collaborative Practice offers experience in working on complex briefs as part of a creative team, reflecting the collaborative nature of professional sound and media production environments.Research Practice focuses on the development of research skills necessary for academic inquiry and practice-based projects in music technology. Students learn how to formulate research questions, apply appropriate methods, and analyse findings within the context of sound and music.Negotiated Skills Development allows for personalised learning tailored to the student’s individual goals. Working closely with tutors, students explore current theory and practice and apply these in a self-directed study plan.Audio Visual Practice deepens critical understanding of sound in multimedia contexts. Students engage with a range of applications including sound design for film, generative audio systems, and sound in installation art, enhancing both conceptual and practical skills.The Final Individual Project is a significant piece of self-directed research and creative work.
