COURSE CURRICULUM

This program encourages a dynamic and research-informed approach to creative practice, enabling students to explore, challenge, and refine their individual artistic direction. In Responsive Studio Practice, students engage with a range of conceptual and practical challenges that require them to adapt their creative processes to external themes, briefs, or contexts. This module promotes flexibility and responsiveness, encouraging students to situate their work within broader cultural or social frameworks. Research Methods provides a foundation in advanced academic inquiry, introducing methodologies and critical approaches that support both written and practice-based research. This module equips students with the tools needed to analyse, question, and contextualise their own work and the work of others. Disruptive Studio Practice pushes creative boundaries further by encouraging experimentation and critical risk-taking. Here, students interrogate conventions and develop work that challenges established norms or methods in their field. The Critical Study module complements studio practice by fostering a deep analytical engagement with relevant theory, history, and contemporary discourse. Students produce a written or hybrid research output that deepens their understanding of their practice and its wider significance. Finally, Independent Studio Practice serves as the culmination of the course, where students develop a self-directed body of work that reflects their refined skills, personal voice, and critical insight. They are expected to synthesise their learning from all previous modules into a resolved final project that demonstrates both creative ambition and conceptual clarity. Together, these modules support the development of an informed, agile and critically aware practitioner capable of producing innovative and reflective work across a range of creative disciplines.
