It allows you to master the craft of writing and refine your creative output.The English & Creative Writing pathway offers the option of two modules: Literature & History or The Art of Creative Writing. Literature & History focuses on the relationship between literary texts and historical contexts, exploring intellectual, political, and social history. This module encourages deep engagement with case studies and enhances your literary analysis through historical lenses. The Art of Creative Writing module, as described earlier, helps develop your writing skills within the context of literary theory and practice.The Literary Studies pathway emphasizes the connection between literature and history. The Literature & History module delves into how historical contexts influence literature, analyzing various periods and engaging with both conceptual and theoretical issues within literary analysis.All pathways include the Creative Criticism module, which introduces recent developments in literary theory and methodology. It encourages you to engage in creative-critical interventions and develop your skills as a postgraduate-level thinker and writer. The Contemporary Literature module offers advanced study of literature from the millennium onward, focusing on global literary production and its engagement with contemporary concerns. It also examines key theoretical approaches to contemporary literature.The Literature in Practice module bridges the gap between the study of English literature and professional skills, guiding you through the process of project design and reflective practice. The Major Project module allows you to undertake a substantial research or creative practice project on a topic of your choice, with guidance from a tutor, enabling you to apply the knowledge and skills you've acquired during the course.
