COURSE CURRICULUM

This program offers a comprehensive exploration of spatial practice through research, theory, and creative application, encouraging interdisciplinary and socially engaged approaches. The Expanding Spatial Practice module introduces key debates on space, examining both historical and contemporary examples through cross-, inter-, and trans-disciplinary lenses. Students engage with artistic, architectural, performative, and curatorial practices, while also considering collaborative and participatory models. This sets the foundation for their research projects.Spatial Practice Proposition deepens critical understanding by encouraging students to investigate contemporary social, political, cultural, and ecological issues. Through analysis of conceptual and methodological frameworks, students develop a theory- and practice-led proposal that shapes the direction of their work and informs later modules.Spatial Practice Development focuses on the execution of these proposals, helping students translate conceptual ideas into tangible outputs. Projects may include exhibitions, performances, installations, digital media, or written work. The emphasis is on addressing clearly defined issues through innovative and rigorous practice-based research.Spatial Practice Implementation enables students to fully realise their project, focusing on production, documentation, and dissemination. Students build practical skills in organisation, collaboration, leadership, and communication, preparing them to work across disciplinary boundaries and within complex professional environments. They also develop ethical awareness, professional responsibility, and the ability to reflect critically on individual and collective outcomes.Together, these modules support the development of an independent, research-led spatial practice that is responsive to contemporary challenges and capable of engaging diverse audiences.
