COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1 of the law course, you’ll develop foundational knowledge of the English legal system, including its structure, key institutions, and how laws are made and interpreted. You’ll explore contract law, learning about formation, obligations, and breaches. In criminal law, you’ll study core concepts like actus reus and mens rea, and their application to offences and defences. Public law covers the UK’s constitutional framework, rule of law, and human rights. The year also focuses on employability skills, preparing you for both legal and non-legal careers by enhancing your research, communication, and commercial awareness.Year 2 continues to build on your legal expertise with core and optional modules. You can choose to study Property Law and Tort Law, or specialise in areas like Advocacy, Family Law, Legal Tech, or International Trade Law. This year allows you to tailor your studies to align with your career interests, while also developing practical skills such as client care, negotiation, and legal writing.In the final year, your studies become more advanced. You’ll explore Equity and Trusts and European Law, central to a legal education. The dissertation offers a chance to research a legal topic of interest. Electives like Employment Law, Company Law, and Intellectual Property Law broaden your expertise. You’ll also study alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation and arbitration.you’ll be introduced to the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) framework. The Law Clinic provides hands-on experience, advising real clients under supervision. Media & Entertainment Law explores legal challenges in creative industries. You can gain practical experience through work-based learning or a year-long placement. The Domestic Abuse & Criminal Justice module critically examines the legal system’s response to abuse and its effectiveness.
