COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, students are introduced to the foundations of sport and physical activity. Modules like Sports Performance 1 cover essential biomechanical, anatomical, and physiological principles. Sports Coaching & Pedagogy 1 begins the exploration of learning and teaching theories in a sporting context. Sport Management 1 introduces students to different sectors involved in sport provision and basic management concepts. Sport & Physical Activity in the Community 1 lays a theoretical foundation for community engagement in sport, focusing on inclusive practices. The inclusion of Employability 1 and Personal, Professional & Academic Development modules ensures students begin building essential workplace and study skills early on.Year 2 deepens students' practical and theoretical understanding. Sports Performance 2 moves into applied training design to improve health or performance. In Sport Management 2, students explore strategic approaches using real-world management models. Sport & Physical Activity in the Community 2 and Sports Coaching & Pedagogy 2 involve hands-on planning and delivery of coaching sessions tailored to different developmental levels and contexts. Research Methods equips students with the tools needed for their final year dissertation or project. Employability 2 continues to prepare students for the job market, helping them reflect on their career goals and build industry connections.In the Final Year, students specialize further. The Final Year Project, which can be focused on coaching, sport and exercise science, or sport management, enables in-depth independent research. Sports Performance 3, Sport Management 3, Sport & Physical Activity in the Community 3, and Sports Coaching & Pedagogy 3 represent the highest level of development in their respective areas, allowing students to demonstrate advanced application, critical thinking, and synthesis of knowledge.
