COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the nursing program, students are introduced to fundamental aspects of nursing practice, ethics, and professionalism. The module "Becoming a Nursing Student" helps students develop academic skills and understand the professional standards outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), focusing on accountable, evidence-based practice. The "Fundamentals of Nursing Science & Practice" module builds foundational knowledge in nursing, covering anatomy, physiology, and essential clinical skills to ensure safe and effective care. This module also addresses communication skills necessary for engaging with patients and administering care, including medication safety. "Exploring Health & Wellbeing" allows students to examine health and wellness from socio-economic and cultural perspectives, equipping them with the tools to assess and promote health in diverse populations. The "Adult Practice Assessments 1" module, although non-credit bearing, supports practical learning, ensuring students meet NMC proficiencies by engaging in clinical practice.In the second year, students further develop their professional and academic capabilities. The "Developing Professional Skills" module enhances evidence-based practice, law, ethics, and supervision skills. "Application of Nursing Science & Practice" encourages students to apply their knowledge in clinical settings, building their confidence in delivering safe care. "Promoting Health & Wellbeing" focuses on health promotion, protection, and prevention, encouraging students to engage in health conversations with patients and their families. "Adult Practice Assessments 2" continues to support clinical learning, helping students meet NMC standards.In the final year, "Advancing Nursing Science & Practice" builds on previous learning, allowing students to practice more independently and confidently. "Population Health & Wellbeing" emphasizes the role of nurses in managing long-term conditions and improving health outcomes through data analysis and care planning. The "Transition to Registered Nurse" module prepares students for professional practice, consolidating knowledge and skills as they transition to becoming registered nurses, with a focus on safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
