COURSE CURRICULUM

In your first year of civil engineering study, you'll gain a strong foundation in surveying, mechanics, design, and the core principles of engineering. Engineering Materials Science introduces a wide range of construction materials and their physical properties. In your second year, you'll delve deeper into applied concepts and begin connecting science with real engineering challenges. Engineering Materials Chemistry explores materials deterioration, especially in concrete, focusing on sustainability and corrosion. Civil Engineering Management B builds your understanding of contracts, risk assessment, and project control. Fluid Mechanics I introduces core principles to analyse flow behaviours essential for many civil engineering applications. Introduction to Structural Design and Structural Analysis Techniques develop your ability to assess and design elements using different materials and configurations. Geotechnical Engineering: Application & Theory introduces soil and rock mechanics for foundation design, while Advanced Mathematics II enhances your ability to apply mathematical methods to engineering scenarios. In your final year, your studies become more specialised and project-based. Geotechnical Engineering: Design & Theory develops your interpretation of site investigations and analysis of foundations and retaining structures. Infrastructure Engineering covers broad elements of civil infrastructure such as bridges, highways, and water systems.
