These modules teach students the basics of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and acoustics, essential for understanding how different building systems interact. Thermo Fluids and Electrical & Electronic Principles deepen students' understanding of systems and installations, while Mechanical Services introduces key HVAC system concepts, with a focus on sustainability and renewable energy. These modules lay a strong groundwork in both the scientific and engineering principles required for complex building services design.Year 2 delves deeper into technical topics, with modules such as Engineering Mathematics, Electrical Services & Lighting Systems, and Building Management Systems & Control Systems. These courses help students develop advanced problem-solving skills and apply mathematical analysis to engineering challenges. The Group Design Project enables students to work in teams to evaluate and implement a building services project, further developing their design and project management skills. Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Systems and Construction Communications & Application focus on specialized areas, providing students with the knowledge and tools needed to design sustainable, energy-efficient systems. Students also gain insight into the digital tools used in modern construction and building management systems, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the built environment.In the final year, students engage with more specialized topics such as Low-Carbon Systems Design, Intelligent Building Technologies, and Facilities & Maintenance Management. These modules allow students to explore the impact of low-carbon technologies and intelligent systems on building performance and energy efficiency. Building Physics (Modelling & Analysis) provides an in-depth look at the science behind building performance, and the Dissertation module gives students the opportunity to conduct independent research on current issues in the built environment, further enhancing their analytical and presentation skills.This program offers a thorough and practical education in building services engineering, preparing students for roles in designing, implementing, and managing complex systems in commercial and industrial buildings.
