Human Growth and Development Across the Lifespan explores psychological, physical, and social development in a variety of contexts, while Working Positively: Children and Families introduces volunteering and the skills necessary for effective early professional engagement.In year 2, students begin to apply their knowledge in practical settings. Through Communities and Enterprise, students gain volunteering experience and engage with the operation of social enterprises. Enhanced Communication explores group-based intervention methods, while Safeguarding: Adult and Child Protection examines legislation and policy in safeguarding contexts. Developing Research in Practice introduces students to research methods and ethics, laying the foundation for independent inquiry. Emerging Issues in Practice provides an opportunity to critically examine current challenges across areas like youth work, justice, family support, and recovery services.In the final year, the emphasis is on advanced skills, global perspectives, and leadership. The Global Practitioner looks at how global forces such as migration, conflict, and economics shape local practice. Contemporary Challenges for Practice focuses on family wellbeing and support for children and young people, emphasizing evidence-based intervention.
