COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the nursing program, students focus on developing essential academic, ethical, and professional skills that are foundational to becoming a competent nurse. The module "Becoming a Nursing Student" introduces students to academic learning, professional ethics, and the legal principles that govern nursing practice in the UK. It also emphasizes the importance of being proactive and engaged as a student. "Fundamentals of Nursing Science & Practice" provides students with key knowledge about basic nursing skills, anatomy, and physiology, while also teaching how to communicate effectively with patients and safely administer medication. The module also highlights the importance of addressing both mental and physical health in patient care. In the "Exploring Health & Wellbeing" module, students examine the impact of socio-economic and cultural factors on health and wellbeing and explore health promotion strategies. The "Adult Practice Assessments 1" module ensures that students engage in practical learning experiences, allowing them to meet the standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).In the second year, students deepen their clinical knowledge and refine their professional skills. The "Developing Professional Skills" module focuses on evidence-based practice, law, ethics, and supporting others in practice. "Application of Nursing Science & Practice" builds on earlier learning, encouraging students to practice more independently while ensuring safe and effective care. The "Promoting Health & Wellbeing" module helps students develop skills to work with patients to promote health and prevent illness. Like the first year, "Adult Practice Assessments 2" provides further opportunities to apply clinical skills and engage in practice-based learning, ensuring NMC proficiencies are met.In the final year, students consolidate their learning through more advanced clinical and academic modules. "Advancing Nursing Science & Practice" allows students to apply their knowledge more independently and with increased confidence. "Population Health & Wellbeing" focuses on managing long-term conditions and improving health outcomes through data analysis and care planning. Finally, the "Transition to Registered Nurse" module prepares students for professional practice, emphasizing person-centred care, evidence-based practice, and accountability. "Adult Practice Assessments 3" continues to support practical learning and ensures that students are prepared for their future roles as registered nurses.
