In Year 1, the course builds foundational knowledge in both business and accounting. Business and Legal Foundations introduces students to the legal and business structures relevant to accountants, including the English legal system, contract law, and the roles of business stakeholders. Developing Professional and Academic Skills helps students start their career development journey, focusing on digital literacy, professionalism, and personal resilience. Introduction to Accounting Parts 1 and 2 provide an entry point into double-entry bookkeeping, accounting terminology, and the basics of financial and management accounting. Financial Accounting goes further by covering company financial statements, error correction, and the application of accounting concepts. Themes in Accounting explores ethics, sustainability, risk, and corporate governance using case studies. Management Accounting and Data Analysis builds on earlier learning and introduces key management accounting principles and how data is used in decision-making.In Year 2, Business Ethics focuses on ethical decision-making in a business context. Business Accounting Applications involves completing a practical project, building real-world employability skills such as reporting, teamwork, and time management. The Sustainability module explores how businesses can act responsibly in a global context, balancing social and environmental responsibilities with business goals. Financial Management introduces how financial structures support business decisions and how finance plays a strategic role in an organisation.In the Final Year, Finance and Investment Management provides insight into the investment landscape, including portfolio management and the range of investment options. Strategic Planning and Control gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a simulated business environment. Applied Finance for Enterprise teaches students to create a financial business plan using appropriate tools and techniques. Accounting Issues encourages critical thinking about current challenges in accounting regulation, ethics, and digital resources.This degree offers a blend of theoretical foundations and hands-on application, preparing students for careers in accounting, finance, or broader business roles.
