COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting program is structured to build a comprehensive understanding of business, finance, and accounting principles. In the first year, students explore foundational topics such as Business & Legal Foundations, where they gain insight into legal business structures, the English legal system, and contract law. They also study the role of business stakeholders and the broader business environment. The Developing Professional & Academic Skills module focuses on soft skills, digital competencies, and resilience, laying the groundwork for future career development. Students are introduced to accounting through Introduction to Accounting Part 1 and 2, where they learn double-entry bookkeeping, basic financial statement preparation, and management accounting concepts. Financial Accounting further develops these skills, focusing on company financial statements and error correction, while Themes in Accounting introduces ethical issues and corporate responsibility. Management Accounting builds on earlier modules by focusing on management reporting and decision-making.In the second year, students deepen their accounting knowledge with modules like Financial Reporting, where they apply international accounting standards to prepare financial statements. SAGE & Forecasting allows students to refine their analysis and presentation skills, while Performance Management for Decision Making focuses on using financial data for effective management reporting. Technical Themes in Accounting further enhances digital and technical accounting skills, while Financial Management teaches students the role of business finance in decision-making processes. Group Financial Statements builds on financial statement analysis, teaching students how to prepare consolidated statements for groups of companies and interpret financial reports.In the final year, students explore Advanced Financial Management, where they critically assess corporate financial decision-making from a strategic perspective. Strategic Planning & Control allows students to apply their knowledge in a business simulation game, while Accounting Issues covers theoretical accounting challenges, including ethics and regulatory issues. The program concludes with Audit & Assurance, where students learn about the audit process and its regulatory framework, preparing them for professional certification and advanced roles in the accounting industry.
