COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum for the MSc by Research in Medical Sciences is primarily research-focused, with no formal taught modules. Students are required to complete a major research project, equivalent to 180 credits, culminating in a thesis of up to 40,000 words. The project is supervised by academic staff, and students may attend relevant seminars, workshops, or short courses on research methods, statistics, and ethics as needed. Key components include literature review, experimental design, data collection and analysis, and presentation of findings. Optional training in areas like qualitative research, bioinformatics, or clinical trials may be available depending on the project. Progress is monitored through regular supervisory meetings and an annual review. The program encourages interdisciplinary approaches, allowing integration of topics from biology, medicine, and public health. Students are expected to participate in departmental seminars and may have opportunities for conference presentations.
