COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Sustainability and Global Environmental Futures is structured around a set of core modules that develop the analytical, practical and leadership skills needed to address global environmental challenges. Applied Learning Studio 1: Situated Responses encourages students to engage with environmental issues in specific local and cultural contexts, while Applied Learning Studio 2: Connected Worlds explores the interconnected nature of global systems and the cross-border impacts of environmental change. The Global Leadership module and its Independent Project focus on leadership frameworks, collaborative problem-solving and designing real-world interventions within environmental and sustainability fields. Navigating Sustainability and Global Environmental Futures supports students in developing a critical understanding of contemporary global debates and emerging solutions for sustainable futures. Optional modules enable students to tailor their learning to their interests, with choices including Environmental Crises and Societal Change, Global Environmental Histories, and Sustainable Development and the Global South, which examine historical roots, power structures and inequalities involved in global sustainability efforts. Other options such as Intercultural Business Communication, Language Studies for Postgraduate Students and Methods in Environment and Culture broaden professional and research skills. Together, the program blends theory, applied learning and leadership development to prepare graduates to influence policy, strategy and transformative environmental action across sectors and regions.
