COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Global Medical and Health Humanities combines core and optional modules to provide a rich, interdisciplinary learning experience focused on understanding and improving healthcare in global contexts. Core modules, such as Applied Learning Studio 1: Situated Responses and Applied Learning Studio 2: Connected Worlds, engage students in practical, experiential learning that connects theory with real-world challenges. The program emphasizes the development of leadership skills through modules like Global Leadership and the Global Leadership Independent Project, preparing students to navigate complex medical and health environments. In addition, the Navigating Global Medical and Health Humanities module supports critical engagement with key concepts, debates, and research methods in the field, fostering the ability to analyze and respond to contemporary issues in healthcare. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, such as the historical impact of conflict on health in Bodies in Conflict: War, Health and Society, the intersections of philosophy and mental health, intercultural communication, and language studies for postgraduate students. Through this combination of core and optional study, students gain a thorough understanding of the social, cultural, ethical, and historical factors that influence healthcare globally, alongside the practical skills and leadership capabilities needed to make a positive impact in diverse healthcare settings and research contexts.
