COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Global Media and Society offers a comprehensive exploration of contemporary media, focusing on the ways in which media systems, technologies, and cultural practices shape and are shaped by global societies. Core modules provide students with advanced skills in critical analysis, research methods, and media evaluation, including the study of innovation, inequality, and gender in global media. Through the dissertation, students conduct independent research that applies theoretical knowledge to real-world media and cultural issues, developing practical research skills alongside critical thinking. The program also examines the role of creative industries, exploring how media production, distribution, and consumption operate in a global context. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests, ranging from digital analysis, algorithmic cultures, and data-driven research, to intersectional feminism, cinema, audiences, and transnational media practices. Students learn to critically interrogate media trends, assess the impact of emerging technologies, and understand the ethical, cultural, and social dimensions of media in different regions.
