COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Pharmacology program provides a structured progression from foundational biomedical knowledge to advanced study of drug action, development and therapeutic applications. In the first year, students build essential understanding through core modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Foundations of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Science, Genetics and Biotechnology, Introduction to Biosciences, Molecules to Cells, and Microbes, Pathogens and Immunity. These modules establish a broad scientific base, integrating biological, chemical and microbiological principles that underpin pharmacology. In the second year, students advance their knowledge through core modules including Biochemistry of Cellular Metabolism, Cell and Developmental Biology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Immunology, and Drug Design and Development, while optional modules such as Molecular Genetics and Life Cycle of Proteins allow further specialization in molecular and genetic processes. The final year focuses on the application of these skills to real-world challenges, with core modules in Advanced Drug Design and Development, Biosciences Research Project, and Global Health Challenges. Optional modules such as Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, Cell Signalling in Health and Disease, Bioinformatics, Medical Genetics and Clinical Immunology, Ethics in Biomedicine, and Biology of Ageing allow students to tailor their studies to individual interests and career goals. Throughout the program, students gain practical laboratory experience, research skills, and critical thinking abilities, preparing them for careers in pharmaceutical research, healthcare, biotechnology, regulatory affairs, and postgraduate study.
