COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Neuroscience program provides a structured progression from foundational biological and psychological principles to advanced study of neural systems and disorders. In the first year, students develop essential knowledge through core modules including Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Biosciences, Genetics and Biotechnology, Foundations of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Science, Cognitive and Social Psychology, and Developmental Psychology and Neuropsychology. This broad foundation integrates biological, psychological and pharmacological perspectives, preparing students for specialized study. In the second year, the curriculum advances into core topics such as Fundamentals of Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Pharmacology, Molecular Genetics, and Drug Design and Development, enabling students to explore the mechanisms underlying neural function, cognition and behaviour. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through modules such as Advanced Neuroscience - Circuits and Systems, Biosciences Research Project, Global Health Challenges, and The Lying Brain, which investigates hallucinations, delusions and disorders of consciousness. Optional modules such as Advanced Drug Design and Development and Cognition: From Laboratory Research to Everyday Behaviour allow students to tailor their expertise toward pharmacology or applied cognitive research. Throughout the program, students gain practical laboratory experience, research skills, and analytical and problem-solving abilities, equipping them for careers in neuroscience, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, research, psychology, and further postgraduate study in related fields.
