COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Computer Science program builds a strong foundation in both mathematical theory and practical computing skills, supporting students as they progress from core principles to advanced applications. In the first year, students study essential modules such as Fundamentals of Computer Science, Software Development A, Matrices and Calculus, and Probability and Statistics, while optional modules such as Logic and Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling and Programming, Multivariate Calculus and Symmetry and Sequences allow them to explore areas of interest. The second year deepens knowledge in key subjects including Linear Algebra, Secure Systems and Data Engineering and Project Skills, alongside options spanning mathematics and computing such as Abstract Algebra, Complex Analysis, Artificial Intelligence and Algorithms, Internet Applications, Real Analysis, Applied Data Science and Mathematics of Artificial Intelligence. In the final year, students specialise through a wide choice of advanced modules, covering areas such as Machine Learning, Secure Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Statistical Inference, Supervised Learning, Quantum Computing, Graph Theory, Mathematical Cryptography, Sustainable Computing and Engineering Secure Distributed Systems. This flexible structure enables students to develop expertise across emerging technologies and complex mathematical systems, preparing them for careers in fields such as AI, cybersecurity, data science, financial modelling, software development and research.
