COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Statistics program offers a structured progression from foundational mathematical concepts to advanced specialist knowledge. In the first year, students build essential skills through core modules such as Logic and Discrete Mathematics, Matrices and Calculus, Symmetry and Sequences, and Probability and Statistics. A wide choice of optional modules, including Computing Essentials, Mathematical Modelling and Programming, Multivariate Calculus, Principles of Economics, Quantum Physics and Business Decision Making, allows students to tailor their learning and explore interdisciplinary applications. In the second year, the course deepens theoretical and practical understanding with core modules including Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, Multivariate Probability and Statistics, Applied Data Science and Project Skills. Students may further specialise through options such as Abstract Algebra, Complex Analysis or Mathematics of Artificial Intelligence. The final year focuses on advanced expertise and preparation for professional or research pathways, with core study in Statistical Inference and Supervised Learning, alongside optional modules that span areas such as Mathematical Cryptography, Graph Theory, Environmental and Medical Statistics, Stochastic Processes, Time Series Analysis, Mathematical Finance and Dynamic Modelling.
