COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Hons Finance degree provides a comprehensive foundation in financial theory, quantitative methods, and practical applications, preparing students for high-level careers in investment, banking, financial analysis, risk management, and asset management. In the first year, students build essential knowledge in accounting, economics, financial markets, and mathematical foundations, alongside developing professional skills and learning data visualisation using Python and R. The second year deepens expertise through modules in econometrics, financial markets, time series analysis, asset pricing, and corporate finance, while offering experiential learning opportunities that link theory to real-world practice. In the final year, students focus on advanced corporate finance, investments, and portfolio management, with a strong emphasis on integrating technology through machine learning and AI to enhance financial forecasting, analysis, and decision-making. Optional modules allow students to specialise further in areas such as behavioural finance, ESG, climate and energy finance, fintech, market microstructure, or undertake the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level One examination, giving them a competitive edge in professional accreditation. Across all three years, the program develops analytical, technical, and strategic skills, equipping graduates to navigate the complexities of global financial markets and pursue careers in finance or progress to advanced study in specialised MSc programs both in the UK and internationally.
