COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Psychology and Languages program offers an integrated study of human behaviour and cognitive processes alongside the development of advanced language skills. In the first year, students establish foundational knowledge through core modules including Cognitive and Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Neuropsychology, Foundations of Psychological Research, and Introduction to Psychological Research, while optional language modules allow students to begin or progress in a chosen language such as French, German, Italian, Spanish, or Chinese. In the second year, students build on this foundation with core modules in Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Experimental Methods for Psychology, and Qualitative and Quantitative Methods for Psychology, alongside continued language study to enhance proficiency and cultural understanding. The third year is focused on the Global Engagement Year, allowing students to immerse themselves in the language and culture abroad, applying their skills in real-world contexts. In the fourth and final year, students consolidate their language learning through Becoming Proficient in Languages, reaching advanced CEFR or HSK levels, while deepening psychological knowledge through Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental Psychology, and an independent Psychological Dissertation. Throughout the program, students develop research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, alongside linguistic competence and intercultural understanding, preparing them for careers in professional psychology, education, translation, international business, and other fields requiring combined expertise in human behaviour and languages.
