COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) program provides an integrated interdisciplinary study of economic, political, and philosophical systems, equipping students with analytical, critical, and communication skills. In the first year, students build a foundational understanding through core modules including Foundations of Macroeconomics, Foundations of Microeconomics, Knowledge and Reality, Political Philosophy, Political Theory in a Troubled World, and Parties, Populism and Protest, which introduce key concepts in economics, political analysis, and philosophical reasoning. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge through core modules such as Intermediate Macroeconomics, Applied Philosophy, and Philosophy, Politics and Economics: Issues and Intersections, alongside a wide range of optional modules covering economic theory, policy, global politics, philosophy of mind and science, environmental and development issues, and research methods. The third year focuses on advanced study and independent research, with options including Comparative Political Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, Current Issues in Economics, Econometrics and Data Science in Economics, Global Macroeconomics and Policy, Public Policy Analysis, Democracy Under Pressure, Development Economics, and Politics of the Global South, as well as dissertation modules in both philosophy and politics. This structure enables students to connect theory with practice, evaluate complex societal challenges, and develop versatile skills applicable to careers in public service, government, international organisations, policy, research, and beyond.
