COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Hons Film and English Literature program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of storytelling through both literary and cinematic forms. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through core modules such as Introduction to Film Studies and Literature in Time, alongside optional modules exploring British Cinema and World Literatures, encouraging early engagement with diverse cultural texts. The second year deepens theoretical and analytical skills through modules such as Global Cinemas: Forms, Debates, Histories and Literary Adaptation, while optional modules offer opportunities to study Film Theory and Aesthetics, specific film genres, and critical approaches to literature and media, as well as short film production to develop practical skills. In the final year, students undertake an independent Film and English project, allowing them to integrate research, analysis, and creative practice, supported by optional modules such as Experimental Cinema, Film Cultures, Film Industries, and specialized literary studies. The program balances theoretical inquiry with hands-on creative experience, encouraging critical thinking, reflective practice, and interdisciplinary engagement. Graduates gain versatile skills in narrative analysis, creative production, and cultural critique, preparing them for careers in the creative industries, media, publishing, education, or further study. This integrated approach ensures students are equipped to navigate both professional and academic pathways with confidence and adaptability.
