COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Hons Economics, Politics and International Relations program offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary education, combining the study of economic principles with political theory and global affairs. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation in macroeconomics and microeconomics, alongside an understanding of global political challenges, political theory, quantitative methods, and professional development skills. The second year builds on this foundation with core modules in econometrics, intermediate economic analysis, global capitalism, the influence of superpowers, and the politics of the Global South, providing students with the analytical tools and contextual knowledge to interpret complex economic and political phenomena. In the third year, students explore current issues in economics and public policy analysis, while optional modules allow them to specialise in areas such as critical political theory, war and security, democracy, environment and development, global macroeconomics, labour and health economics, international trade, and the politics of migration and governance crises. Across all three years, the program integrates theoretical learning with applied analysis, equipping students with critical thinking, research, and policy evaluation skills. Graduates emerge with a nuanced understanding of how economic systems, political institutions, and international relations intersect, enabling them to pursue careers in policymaking, international organisations, research, diplomacy, and other roles requiring multidisciplinary expertise and strategic insight.
