COURSE CURRICULUM

The Adult Nursing MSc at Kingston University is structured to develop students’ knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competence across two years of intensive study. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of nursing and healthcare, with a focus on understanding diverse client groups and essential nursing principles. Core modules cover applied life sciences for nursing practice, the fundamental elements of nursing practice, adult nursing 1, essential skills for nursing practice, public health, and practice assessment. These modules provide both theoretical knowledge and practical training, enabling students to develop core competencies in patient care, assessment, and clinical decision-making. In the second year, the course advances to more complex aspects of adult nursing, emphasizing critical analysis, evidence-based practice, and leadership in healthcare settings. Students study modules such as adult nursing 2, complex care for adult nursing, leading care for adult nursing, and practice assessment, alongside a focus on becoming a registrant nurse. Clinical placements continue to provide hands-on experience, allowing students to apply learning in real-world healthcare environments under professional supervision. By integrating theory, practice, and professional development, graduates are equipped to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ready to practice as registered adult nurses in hospitals, community healthcare, and specialist settings, or to pursue further advanced roles.
