COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology MSc conversion course offers a structured curriculum that provides a comprehensive foundation in core psychological disciplines while allowing some choice of specialism. Core modules include Methods and Statistics, which develops essential skills in research design, data analysis and scientific reporting. The Person in Psychology explores individual differences, personality and social influences on behaviour, while Cognition and Biological Psychology examines mental processes alongside the biological bases of behaviour, including brain function and neuroscience. The Psychology Dissertation forms a major component of the program, enabling students to conduct an independent research project under supervision, applying psychological theory and methodological skills to a topic of interest. Students also choose one optional module to tailor their learning. Options range from Applied Psychology with Work Experience, which offers practical exposure, to specialist areas such as developmental psychology, social psychology, thinking and cognition, health and wellbeing, neuropsychology, mental health, psychotherapy and forensic psychology. This combination of core and optional modules ensures breadth across the key areas required for British Psychological Society accreditation, while also providing flexibility to explore personal interests. Together, the modules develop strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills, preparing graduates for further professional training or psychology-related careers.
