COURSE CURRICULUM

The Project Management for Creative Practitioners MSc is structured around core modules that combine management theory with creative industry practice. Principles of Project Management introduces fundamental concepts such as project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management and quality control, providing a strong foundation for managing creative projects effectively. The Human Problem: Working with and Managing People focuses on leadership, collaboration and communication, exploring how to motivate teams, manage conflict and support diverse creative professionals. Designing and Running Successful Projects develops practical skills in shaping, delivering and evaluating projects, emphasising strategic thinking, problem solving and adaptability in fast-paced creative environments. The Creative Freelancer module addresses self-employment and portfolio careers, covering topics such as professional identity, client management, contracts, finance and sustainability within freelance practice. The Major Project serves as the culmination of the program, allowing students to apply their learning to an in-depth, independent project aligned with their creative and professional interests. Together, these modules provide a balanced and practice-focused curriculum that prepares graduates to lead, manage and deliver creative projects with confidence. The course equips students with transferable skills for careers across design, media, arts and cultural industries, as well as for freelance and entrepreneurial pathways.
