COURSE CURRICULUM

The Pharmaceutical Analysis MSc includes a focused set of core modules that build advanced analytical knowledge alongside practical and research skills. Molecular and Atomic Spectroscopy introduces key spectroscopic techniques used to identify and characterise pharmaceutical substances at molecular and atomic levels, supporting accurate analysis of drug composition and structure. Separation Science explores essential methods such as chromatography and related techniques that are central to the separation, identification and quantification of complex pharmaceutical mixtures. Pharmaceutical and Analytical Technology examines modern analytical instrumentation and technologies used in drug development, manufacturing and quality control, linking theory with practical laboratory application. Statistics and Quality Systems develops the ability to apply statistical tools and quality management principles to pharmaceutical data, ensuring reliability, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement within analytical processes. The Project module allows students to undertake an independent research or industry-relevant investigation, applying analytical techniques and scientific reasoning to a real pharmaceutical problem. This module strengthens experimental design, data analysis and scientific reporting skills. Together, these core modules provide a strong integration of theory, hands-on laboratory experience and research practice, preparing graduates for professional roles in pharmaceutical analysis, quality assurance, regulatory environments and research, as well as for further academic study within pharmaceutical and analytical sciences.
