COURSE CURRICULUM

The core and capstone modules of the Financial Technology MSc are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how technology is transforming the financial sector. Core modules include Blockchain FinTech Applications, which explores the use of distributed ledger technologies in areas such as payments, smart contracts and digital assets. Big Data and Analytics in Finance focuses on using large datasets and analytical techniques to support financial decision making and risk management. FinTech, Funding and Strategy examines innovation, investment and strategic development within fintech organisations. Programming and Data in Finance develops practical skills in coding and data handling for financial applications, while Finance, Regulation and Ethics addresses the regulatory frameworks and ethical considerations shaping modern financial systems. Machine Learning and FinTech Applications introduces intelligent algorithms used in areas such as credit scoring, fraud detection and automated trading. The program concludes with a capstone module, allowing students to choose between a Dissertation and Research Methods or a Consultancy Project. The dissertation option supports in-depth academic research, while the consultancy project provides practical experience solving real-world financial technology challenges. Together, these modules equip students with technical, analytical and strategic skills for careers in fintech, financial services, consultancy and related fields.
