COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Design and Systems Engineering at Kingston University is structured around a combination of core and optional modules that provide a comprehensive education in engineering, design, and systems thinking. Core modules begin with Quality Management Systems, which introduces students to principles of quality assurance, process optimisation, and standards relevant to engineering practice. Integrated Engineering Simulation develops skills in modelling and simulating complex engineering systems, allowing students to predict performance and optimise designs before physical production. Advanced CAD/CAM Systems focuses on computer-aided design and manufacturing techniques, equipping students with practical tools for product development. Product Design Lifecycle Analysis explores the complete lifecycle of a product, from concept to disposal, integrating considerations of sustainability, usability, and efficiency. Research Techniques, Innovation and Sustainability develops critical research, analytical, and innovation skills, preparing students to approach engineering challenges with both creativity and evidence-based methodology. The Dissertation provides an opportunity to undertake an independent research or design project, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. Optional modules, including Advanced Product Modelling or Industrial Robotics, enable students to specialise in areas aligned with their interests and career goals.
