COURSE CURRICULUM

The core modules of the Criminology with Forensic Psychology MSc provide a comprehensive framework for understanding crime, criminal behaviour, and the application of psychological principles within the justice system. Investigative and Legal Processes in Forensic Psychology explores the role of psychology in criminal investigations, legal procedures, and courtroom processes, helping students understand how psychological knowledge informs decision-making, risk assessment, and offender profiling. Dissertation Research Methods and Professional Practice equips students with essential research skills, including study design, data collection, analysis, and ethical considerations, preparing them to conduct independent, high-quality research. The Criminology Dissertation allows students to undertake an in-depth, self-directed research project, applying theoretical and methodological knowledge to a topic relevant to criminology and forensic psychology. Crime, Harm and Criminal Justice examines the nature, causes, and consequences of criminal behaviour, alongside the functioning of criminal justice systems, policies, and interventions aimed at preventing and responding to crime. Theorising Crime develops critical understanding of key criminological theories and concepts, encouraging students to analyse and evaluate different perspectives on crime, social harm, and justice.
