COURSE CURRICULUM

The core and optional modules of the Artificial Intelligence MSc are designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in both the technical and ethical aspects of intelligent systems. Applied Data Programming develops practical skills in handling, processing and analysing data, forming the basis for effective AI development. Big Data and Data Mining focuses on techniques for managing large datasets and extracting meaningful patterns to support data-driven decision making. Ethics and Regulation of Artificial Intelligence addresses the social, legal and ethical challenges associated with AI, encouraging responsible design and deployment of intelligent technologies. Machine Learning and Deep Learning introduces key algorithms and models that underpin modern AI applications, enabling students to build and evaluate intelligent systems. The Project Dissertation allows students to apply their knowledge through an independent research or applied project, demonstrating both technical competence and critical thinking. In addition to the core modules, students choose two optional modules to specialise further. Computer Vision explores methods for enabling machines to interpret visual data, while Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence Applications examines the role of AI in enhancing security and threat detection. Natural Language Processing focuses on enabling systems to understand and generate human language. Together, these modules equip students with adaptable, in-demand skills suited to diverse AI-focused career paths.
