The Music Performance MMus offers a carefully structured curriculum that balances advanced performance practice with academic and professional development. Core modules such as Critical Aspects of Performance Presentation focus on refining stage presence, communication and the ability to present performances confidently to diverse audiences. Performance Studies encourages in-depth exploration of performance practice, interpretation and critical reflection, helping students develop a mature and informed artistic approach. Researching Music builds essential research skills, enabling students to investigate musical topics, methodologies and contexts that support both practical and written work. The Major Project serves as the culmination of the program, allowing students to demonstrate high-level performance alongside critical reflection or research, showcasing their individual artistic identity and professional readiness. Optional modules, which may vary each year, provide opportunities to tailor the degree to specific interests and career goals. These include popular music production and composition, music marketing, and composing for film and television using contemporary techniques and technologies. Other options explore music education in national and international contexts, examining psychological, cultural and philosophical perspectives, as well as the relationship between music, score and screen. Together, these modules offer flexibility, creative depth and professional relevance, supporting diverse career pathways within performance, composition, education and the wider music industry.
