Create: The Business of Publishing introduces students to the commercial, legal and organisational aspects of publishing, helping them understand industry structures, business models and market dynamics. Make: Content Development and Production focuses on the creative and technical processes involved in producing high-quality content, including editorial, design and digital workflows. Share: Strategic Marketing and Sales develops knowledge of marketing principles, audience engagement, distribution strategies and the promotion of published content. Do: Work Placements, Networking and Career Planning offers practical industry experience, enabling students to apply their skills in real-world settings while building professional networks and planning career pathways. In addition, students choose between a Practical Publishing Project or a Publishing Dissertation, providing an opportunity to undertake an in-depth, self-directed piece of work that integrates research, creativity and industry practice. Together, these modules ensure a balance of theoretical insight, practical expertise and professional readiness, preparing graduates for a wide range of roles within publishing, including editorial, production, marketing, digital media, rights management and literary agency work.
