COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law and Criminal Justice LLB (Hons) at Kingston University provides a comprehensive foundation in legal principles and the criminal justice system, combining academic study with practical skills to prepare students for careers in law, policy, or related fields. In Year 1, students are introduced to the English legal system, core skills and ethics, and how to access and use legal materials. They study Constitutional and Administrative Law, exploring the UK’s constitution and the relationship between individuals and the state, alongside Law of Tort, which examines civil wrongs, and Law of Contract, focusing on agreements and breaches. Year 2 builds on these foundations, covering Land Law, Criminal Law, and EU Law, while offering critical insight into criminal justice institutions such as the police, prisons, and probation services. Students explore penalties, justice delivery, and contemporary issues affecting the system. In the final year, students study Equity and Trusts and Risk, Crime and Justice, and complete a career-focused Future Skills module. Optional modules allow further specialization, including International Criminal and Human Rights Law, Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity, Transnational Crime, or a Law Dissertation. Throughout the program, students develop analytical, research, and practical skills, enabling them to understand and critically evaluate legal frameworks and criminal justice processes, while preparing for professional practice or postgraduate study in law and related disciplines.
